Brahms: Symphony No. 4 in E Minor

Closing its 18th season with grandiose splendor, the world class South Florida Symphony led by prize-winning Maestra Sebrina Alfonso presents “Spring Is In The Air” headlining Aaron Copland’s magnificent Appalachian Spring Suite. Three principal dancers from the critically acclaimed Martha Graham Dance Company enhance the Symphony’s performance with vignettes from Graham’s Appalachian Spring ballet; highly regarded actress Beth Holland narrates, with text from Graham’s letters to Copland.  Her eloquent and intimate descriptions of the characters, setting, and atmosphere offer the audience unique insight into the creative process and remarkable collaboration of these two geniuses.  Celebrating its 90th anniversary, this oldest American dance troupe is recognized as “one of the great dance companies of the world (New York Times) and “one of the seven wonders of the artistic universe” (Washington Post).
